I attended a great seminar on Friday put on by Women of Influence, a local organization in Gainesville, founded by Jill Nash. The seminar was entitled The Power of One. From the title you can guess that the seminar was about the difference that one person can make.
It was truly inspiring to hear speakers from three charitable organizations explain how they make a difference in the lives of many. The organizations were the Gainesville Community Ministry, Arbor House, and Sebastian Ferraro. All were dedicated to helping those in need, with both short and long term programs.
The Arbor House struck a chord in my heart. Arbor House helps homeless single mothers by providing them a safe place to live and assistance with long-term goals that lead to self-sufficiency. I am inspired to find out what programs my small town offers to women in similar circumstances and how I can help. Thanks to Women of Influence for reminding me that I feel my best when I help others.
